Basic Locknuts and self-tightening nuts are a common type of tightening lock nuts. Including mechanical anti-loose, riveting anti-loose, friction anti-loose, structure anti-loose, etc.

The anti-loosening nut originated from abroad. It is permanently attached to the thread with a special engineering plastic, so that in the process of shrinking the internal and external threads, the engineering plastic is squeezed to produce a strong reaction force, which greatly increases the gap between the internal and external threads. Friction provides absolute resistance to vibration.


This resistance is completely distributed across the entire meshing section of the internal and external threads, and the friction has nothing to do with the tightening pressure between the internal and external threads. It is different from the previous stopping method, which relies on the friction generated by the pressure after the screw is tightened. Once the screw is loosened slightly, the pressure is reduced, and the friction force disappears quickly and the anti-retraction effect is lost, causing the screw to loosen. However, the plastic anti-loose method is affected by the environment and cannot meet the requirements of high temperature and severe cold. A new anti-loose technology must be explored.


The locknut was invented in the United States 35 years ago. There is a 30-degree wedge surface at the top of the traditional 60-degree tooth tip. This structure allows the male and female threads to be larger than the traditional thread after the bolt is tightened with the nut. The friction force to prevent loosening.


Due to the change in the angle of the tooth profile, the normal force exerted on the contact between the threads is at a 60-degree angle with the bolt axis instead of the 30-degree angle like ordinary threads. The normal pressure of the thread is much greater than the fastening pressure, so the anti-loosening friction generated will inevitably be greatly increased. When the male thread crest is occluded with the female thread, the tooth tip at the tooth crest is easy to deform, so that the load is evenly distributed over the full length of the contact spiral, avoiding the occlusion of ordinary standard threads, more than 80% of the total load is concentrated on Phenomenon on the thread surface of the first and second teeth. Therefore, the threaded coupling not only overcomes the shortcomings of ordinary standard couplings that are easy to loosen under vibration conditions, but also prolongs the service life.
Due to this special tooth deformation prevention method, it can be repeatedly disassembled 5 to 50 times, and the anti-loose function still exists. Because this anti-loose method has high vibration resistance, light weight, and repeatable disassembly, it has become the most reliable anti-loose product today.


Screws that have undergone anti-loosening treatment are called anti-loosening screws, which are most suitable for the fastening of moving parts. They were first used in American aerospace aircraft and later promoted to the American automobile manufacturing industry. As manufacturing technology matures and costs decrease, It is widely used in 3C, bicycles, skating and ski equipment, furniture, sports equipment, medical equipment and other industries. It completely replaces the traditional non-return washers and fully demonstrates the reliability of the tightening and anti-loosening effect of the anti-loosening screw.
